Tandem Turnstile, Clear Yoke – Electric

This electric tandem full height turnstile combines two independently controlled pedestrian passageways within a compact shared frame. Clear curved side panels, or clear yokes, reduce the visual weight of a conventional full height turnstile and provide improved sight lines through the entrance while maintaining controlled one-person passage.

The tandem configuration provides the security and pedestrian capacity of two full height turnstiles while saving approximately 30" of space compared with two separately installed units. This makes it particularly well suited for corporate facilities, data centers, employee entrances, vestibules, warehouse entrances, secured campuses and other transitional security areas where both appearance and efficient use of space are important.

Clear Yoke (Sides) Architectural Design

Each curved yoke incorporates a crystal-clear panel within an aluminum frame, creating a more open architectural appearance than conventional tubular barrier sections. The clear panels improve visibility and sight lines around the entrance while the structural frame maintains the durability required for controlled pedestrian access.

The rotating and barrier sections use fully welded construction without exposed bolts or fasteners. Sealed internal bearings, a splined rotation connection, speed-controlled rotation and automatic self-centering are designed for smooth, consistent operation and long-term use.

Compact Tandem Configuration

Two full height turnstiles are incorporated into a single shared tandem frame, providing two controlled lanes while reducing the overall footprint compared with installing two independent turnstiles.

Each lane operates independently, allowing the entrance to be configured according to the required pedestrian flow. The tandem design is particularly useful where architects need two controlled passageways but available entrance width is limited.

Electric Two-Way Operation

The electric configuration provides controlled passage in both directions. Upon receiving an authorization signal, the appropriate turnstile direction unlocks for one authorized person to pass and then returns to the secured position. Each direction can be independently configured for controlled, free or locked passage.

Fail-safe and fail-lock operation can be configured independently by direction. Built-in override controls also allow operating modes to be changed as facility requirements change.

Access Control Ready

Access Control Ready: Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.

The electric tandem turnstile can integrate with card readers, proximity credentials, biometric readers, visitor-management systems and other access-control equipment. Credential readers can be mounted to accommodate a variety of reader types.

Built-in I/O supports passage confirmation, people counting and alerts, while a dedicated fire-system input provides emergency override capability. The technical documentation specifically confirms dry-contact I/O integration.

Indoor / Transitional Applications

The clear-yoke tandem turnstile is particularly suited for indoor and protected transitional installations, including vestibules, locations beneath exterior canopies and entrances just inside the building envelope. These applications take advantage of the improved visibility and architectural appearance of the clear curved sides.

Weatherization packages are available for installations requiring additional environmental protection.

Finish and Color Options

Available finishes include powder-coated and stainless-steel configurations, as well as combinations of finishes. Powder-coated finishes provide additional architectural color choices for coordinating the tandem turnstile with the surrounding building interior, vestibule, fencing or entrance equipment.

When stainless steel is selected, the aluminum framing around the clear yoke can receive a complementary brushed appearance, consistent with the single clear-yoke turnstile you currently offer.

Installation

The tandem turnstile is designed for permanent installation on a level structural mounting surface. The tandem assembly includes two rotors and two clear yoke sections incorporated into a common structure.

Installation requires coordination of the complete footprint, mounting and anchor locations, electrical power, access-control wiring and required service clearances. The current installation documentation shows an overall tandem width of approximately 94.5", and specifies an additional 3" of overhead clearance for service and maintenance beyond the approximately 91.5" overall turnstile height.

For new construction, power and low-voltage conduit should be coordinated before the mounting surface is completed. Existing installations may require drilling, trenching, core drilling or other approved methods for concealed wiring. Final anchor and conduit locations should be coordinated from approved project drawings before installation.

ADA Companion Gate

All tandem turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway. The companion gate provides a wider controlled route adjacent to the tandem turnstile for accessible pedestrian passage and other wide-passage requirements.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

Canopy configuration should be coordinated with the tandem footprint, surrounding architectural conditions and required overhead clearances.

Available Options

Options include credential-reader mounts, LED direction indicators, keyed overrides, fire-system integration, heel and arm guards, base plates, weatherization packages and multiple finish combinations. Many options can be factory installed or field configured to accommodate project-specific security and architectural requirements.
