Tandem Turnstile, Galvanized – Manual

This manual tandem full height turnstile combines two controlled pedestrian passageways within a single heavy-duty structure. Built from hot-dip galvanized steel, it is designed for demanding indoor or outdoor installations where long-term durability, perimeter security and reliable mechanical operation are required.

The tandem configuration places two full height turnstiles into a compact shared frame, providing the capacity of two pedestrian lanes while requiring approximately 30" less installation width than two separate single turnstiles. It is especially well suited for industrial facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, secured campuses, construction sites, parking facilities and outdoor perimeter fence lines.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Construction

The primary feature of this model is its hot-dip galvanized steel construction. Exterior steel components are hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123/A153 standards, providing corrosion protection for demanding exterior and industrial environments.

The turnstile uses fully welded steel construction rather than field-bolted structural sections, helping provide a strong, rigid and tamper-resistant assembly. Sealed bearings, durable internal components and a precision splined rotation assembly are designed for long-term operation in high-traffic applications.

Manual Operation – No Electrical Access Control Required

This model is completely mechanically controlled and does not require electrical access control for normal operation.

Key-lock controls located beneath the top channel allow authorized personnel to configure passage operation. Available manual configurations include free passage in both directions, free passage in one direction with the opposite direction locked, or both directions locked.

Because passage control is mechanical, this configuration is an excellent choice for entrances where electrical wiring, card readers and electronic locking are unnecessary.

Controlled, Self-Centering Rotation

An integrated mechanical speed-control system automatically adjusts resistance according to the force applied by the pedestrian. This helps prevent excessively fast rotation and provides smoother operation during repeated use.

After passage, the rotating section automatically returns to its home position. The manual model also incorporates an anti-entrapment mechanism designed to prevent a pedestrian from becoming locked inside the turnstile.

Space-Saving Tandem Configuration

The tandem design incorporates two full height pedestrian lanes within a common frame. Compared with installing two separate single turnstiles, the tandem arrangement saves approximately 30" of side-to-side installation space.

This makes the double turnstile particularly useful along fence lines and other locations where pedestrian capacity needs to be increased without unnecessarily increasing the overall entrance width.

Indoor or Outdoor

The galvanized tandem turnstile is suitable for indoor or outdoor installations. Its hot-dip galvanized finish makes this version particularly appropriate for exterior perimeter security, industrial facilities and other locations exposed to demanding environmental conditions.

Weatherization packages are also available for installations subject to more severe environmental conditions.

Installation

The tandem turnstile is permanently installed on a level structural mounting surface, typically a prepared concrete pad. The complete tandem footprint, base mounting points, pedestrian approach areas and adjacent fencing should be coordinated before installation.

Because this is the manual configuration, electrical conduit is not required for normal turnstile operation. This can simplify installation where only mechanically controlled pedestrian passage is needed.

Installation into existing concrete requires layout and drilling for the required anchors. Final anchor locations, mounting dimensions and surrounding clearances should be coordinated with approved project drawings before drilling. ADA Companion Gate

All tandem turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway.

The companion gate can be installed adjacent to the tandem turnstile to provide a controlled wider passage for accessibility and other applications requiring additional clearance.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

Canopy and baseplate accessories are available for the turnstile family.

Available Options

Available options include keyed overrides, heel and arm guards, baseplates, weatherization packages and overhead canopies. The manual configuration keeps the basic operating system mechanical while allowing the installation to be adapted to project-specific security and environmental requirements.
