Tandem Turnstile, Clear Yoke + Arms – Electric
Product Description
This electric tandem full height turnstile combines two independently controlled pedestrian passageways with crystal-clear rotating arms and clear curved side panels, providing full-height access security with a more open architectural appearance. The transparent components improve sight lines through the entrance and reduce the visual impact normally associated with conventional all-metal full height turnstiles.
The tandem configuration incorporates two full height turnstiles into one shared structure, providing two controlled pedestrian lanes while reducing the overall installation footprint compared with two separate units. This makes it particularly well suited for corporate headquarters, data centers, government facilities, employee entrances, secured lobbies and other interior high-security applications where appearance, pedestrian capacity and available space are important.
Clear Arms and Clear Yokes (Sides)
Both the rotating arms and curved side sections use clear architectural panels, creating excellent visibility through and around the entrance. The clear yoke panels are secured within aluminum frames, while the transparent rotating arms provide the physical full-height barrier without the heavy visual appearance of conventional tubular steel arms.
The turnstile uses fully assembled structural sections with no exposed bolts or fasteners, sealed bearings and a splined connection between the rotating sections and upper assemblies for precise alignment and controlled operation.
Space-Saving Tandem Configuration
The two turnstiles share a common tandem structure rather than requiring two completely separate full-height assemblies. This provides two independently controlled security lanes within a more compact footprint.
The current product literature describes the tandem design as requiring approximately 30" less side-to-side installation space than two individual turnstiles, making it especially useful where two controlled lanes are needed but entrance width is limited.
Electric Bi-Directional Operation
The electric configuration provides single or bi-directional access control. Each direction can be independently configured for controlled passage, free passage or locked passage, allowing the entrance and exit operation to be matched to facility requirements.
Each direction can also be independently configured for fail-safe or fail-secure operation. Built-in speed control regulates rotation according to the user's pushing force, while automatic self-centering returns the rotating section to its home position after passage. An anti-entrapment design prevents a user from becoming locked inside the turnstile.
Access Control Ready
Access Control Ready: Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.
The tandem turnstile can integrate with card readers, proximity credentials, biometric readers, visitor-management systems and other access-control equipment. Credential readers can be mounted to accommodate a wide variety of reader types.
Built-in I/O can provide passage confirmation, people counting and other status signals. A dedicated fire-system input provides emergency override capability, and local override controls provide additional operational flexibility.
Indoor Applications
This clear-arm and clear-yoke configuration is designed primarily for interior security applications where architectural appearance is an important part of the entrance design. Typical locations include corporate lobbies, employee vestibules, data centers and other secured interior areas.
For locations requiring exposure protection, project conditions and available weatherization options should be reviewed before specifying the turnstile.
Finish and Color Options
The structural components can be specified with powder-coated or stainless-steel finishes, including combinations of finishes. Powder coating is available in a variety of colors, allowing the tandem entrance to coordinate with surrounding architectural finishes and interior design.
Installation
The tandem turnstile is designed for permanent installation on a level structural mounting surface. Installation requires coordination of the complete tandem footprint, anchor locations, electrical power, access-control wiring and surrounding pedestrian clearances.
For new construction, electrical and low-voltage conduit can be coordinated below the finished floor before installation. Existing locations may require drilling, trenching, core drilling or other approved concealed-conduit methods.
Final anchor locations, drilling patterns, conduit routing and electrical stub-ups should be coordinated with the approved project drawings before drilling or floor preparation.
ADA Companion Gate
All tandem turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway.
The companion gate can be installed adjacent to the tandem turnstile to provide a wider controlled passage for accessibility requirements and other applications requiring additional clearance.
Canopy Options
Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.
Canopy and base-plate accessories are available within the product family.
Available Options
Available options include credential-reader mounts, LED indicator lights, battery backup, keyed overrides, fire-system integration, direction-control settings, base plates and multiple finish combinations.
