Tandem Turnstile 28" Passageway – Aluminum

This tandem full height aluminum turnstile provides two controlled pedestrian passageways within a single integrated structure. Each lane provides approximately a 28" clear passage, creating a two-lane security entrance with a more open architectural appearance than conventional steel full height turnstiles.

The combination of aluminum framing and polycarbonate components provides the security function of a traditional full height turnstile while creating a lighter, less imposing appearance. The tandem configuration is approximately 96.25" wide, with an 84" interior passage height and 91" overall height.

This design is well suited for corporate facilities, institutional buildings, secured campuses, employee entrances, recreational facilities and other controlled entrances where two pedestrian lanes are required without the heavier appearance of traditional steel construction.

Dual 28" Passageways

The tandem configuration provides two approximately 28" pedestrian passageways within one integrated assembly. The actual published clear pedestrian clearance is 27.75" per lane.

Using two lanes increases pedestrian capacity while maintaining individually controlled full-height passage. The tandem assembly measures approximately 96.25" wide, compared with 66.25" for the corresponding single turnstile.

Aluminum and Polycarbonate Construction

Aluminum framing combined with polycarbonate components creates a modern, open appearance while maintaining a full-height physical barrier. The design is particularly appropriate for locations where security equipment is highly visible and needs to coordinate with the surrounding architecture.

Two architectural finishes are available: clear anodized aluminum or dark bronze.

Independent Lane Operation

Each turnstile can be configured to meet the required pedestrian traffic pattern. Available control arrangements include free passage in both directions, free passage in one direction with the opposite direction locked, electronic control in one direction, or electronic control in both directions.

This allows the two tandem lanes to be configured for entry, exit or bi-directional traffic according to the security requirements of the facility.

Access Control Ready

Access Control Ready: Electronic configurations are compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.

The turnstiles can be integrated with card readers, RFID credentials, biometric readers and other access-control equipment. Electronic control can also be configured for fail-secure or fail-safe operation, and a key override is available for authorized manual release.

Indoor or Outdoor

The tandem aluminum turnstile can be specified for indoor or outdoor applications, depending on the environmental requirements of the project.

For installations exposed to cold temperatures, an optional cold-weather package with a thermostat-controlled heater and insulated mainframe is available.

Finish Options

The aluminum structure is available in:

• Clear anodized finish
• Dark bronze finish

These finishes provide an architectural alternative to conventional painted or galvanized steel turnstiles and can coordinate with surrounding building entrances, fencing and other security equipment.

Installation

The tandem turnstile is surface mounted and anchored to a prepared structural mounting surface, typically concrete. Installation should be coordinated with the architectural, structural, electrical and access-control plans.

Existing concrete installations may require layout and drilling for anchors, along with trenching, core drilling or other approved methods for routing electrical and access-control wiring. For new construction, anchor locations and electrical/low-voltage conduit can be coordinated before the concrete is installed.

Final mounting locations, anchor patterns, conduit entries and electrical stub-ups should be coordinated from approved project drawings before drilling or trenching.

ADA Companion Gate

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway. This provides a controlled wider passage adjacent to the tandem entrance.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

A full overhead canopy is also listed among the available options for this turnstile family.

Available options include bi-directional key overrides, visible indicator lights, digital passage counters, card-reader mounting enclosures, cold-weather equipment, metal detection, push-button controls and wireless remotes.
