Tandem Electric or Manual – 31" Passageway

This tandem full height turnstile provides two spacious 31" pedestrian passageways within a single integrated structure. The dual-lane configuration increases pedestrian capacity while maintaining full-height perimeter security, making it an excellent choice for facilities requiring controlled access for a high volume of employees, visitors or contractors.

Each lane operates independently and can be configured for one-way or bi-directional passage, allowing the two sides of the tandem turnstile to perform different functions. For example, one lane can provide credential-controlled entry while the second provides free exit, or both lanes can provide controlled entry and exit.

The tandem design is well suited for data centers, distribution and fulfillment centers, industrial facilities, construction sites, government facilities, public transportation, secured campuses and perimeter fence lines where two controlled pedestrian lanes are required.

Dual 31" Passageways

Two 31" clear passageways provide comfortable pedestrian clearance while maintaining controlled full-height passage. Both lanes are incorporated into a common structure measuring approximately 96" overall width, creating a compact two-lane security entrance.

Each rotor incorporates an automatic rotational speed-control mechanism that responds to the user's pushing force, helping maintain a controlled rotation speed. Mechanical anti-entrapment technology, permanently lubricated components and fully welded exterior construction are designed for demanding, high-volume applications.

Independent Lane Operation

One of the primary advantages of this tandem configuration is that each 31" lane can be controlled independently. Available operating arrangements include:

• Credential-controlled entry and credential-controlled exit
• Credential-controlled entry with free exit
• Credential-controlled entry with locked exit
• Free entry and free exit
• Exit-only operation
• Entrance-only operation

This flexibility allows pedestrian traffic patterns to be changed to accommodate shift changes, peak traffic periods and changing facility security requirements.

Access Control Ready

Access Control Ready: Electric configurations are compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.

Dedicated I/O connections allow integration with card readers, proximity credentials, biometric readers and other access-control equipment, as well as fire-safety systems. Each lane can be independently integrated with the required access-control devices. The electronic locking system operates at 24 VDC, with fail-safe or fail-secure operation configurable according to project requirements.

Indoor / Outdoor

The tandem full height turnstile is designed for indoor or outdoor applications and can be incorporated into building entrances, security vestibules or exterior perimeter fence lines.

Finish options include hot-dip galvanized steel, powder-coated steel and powder coat over galvanized steel. Powder coat over galvanized construction provides additional protection for exterior applications while allowing the turnstile color to coordinate with fencing, building architecture or other entrance equipment.

Standard and custom powder-coated colors can be specified to coordinate with project architectural requirements.

Installation

The tandem turnstile is designed for permanent installation on a sturdy, level structural mounting surface, with concrete recommended. The complete assembly has an overall width of approximately 96", so the footprint, pedestrian approach areas, adjacent fencing or walls and required clearances should be coordinated during entrance planning.

Electric installations require coordination of line voltage, low-voltage access-control wiring and fire-system connections. Electrical input is 100–230 VAC, 50–60 Hz, with the turnstile operating at 24 VDC.

For new construction, electrical and low-voltage conduit can be coordinated below the finished mounting surface. Existing installations may require drilling, trenching, core drilling or other approved conduit-routing methods. Final anchor locations, drilling patterns and conduit locations should be coordinated with approved project drawings before installation.

ADA Companion Gate

All tandem turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway.

The companion gate can be installed adjacent to the tandem turnstile to provide a controlled wider passage for accessibility requirements, deliveries and other applications requiring additional clearance.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

Full self-supporting canopies are also available where protection is required over the complete turnstile entrance or turnstile array.

Available Options

Available options include card-reader mounting plates, key overrides, LED passage indicators, home-position switches, cold-weather packages, battery backup, heavy-duty lock bars and protective arm safety sleeves.
