28" Passage Full Height Mechanical Turnstile

The 28" Passage Full Height Mechanical Turnstile provides reliable physical control of pedestrian access without requiring electrical power or an access-control system. Its full-height rotating barrier creates a continuous security barrier from floor level to above the user's head, making it well suited for controlled entrances where durable, unattended pedestrian security is required.

The 28" passage provides a practical opening for normal pedestrian traffic while maintaining a compact overall footprint. It is commonly suited for industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, employee entrances, schools, athletic facilities, utilities, perimeter entrances and other controlled-access locations.

The mechanical configuration can be set up for free passage in one or both directions, or configured so that one direction is controlled while the opposite direction remains free. Keyed lock overrides allow authorized personnel to change the direction of operation when needed.

Heavy-Duty Welded Construction

This full-height turnstile is designed for demanding commercial and industrial environments, with 1.75" heavy-duty tubing and an approximately 700-pound overall weight on the configuration currently listed by SecurityEntrances.

The rotating section and barrier assemblies use welded construction rather than relying on numerous field-bolted components. A splined mechanical connection between the upper channel and rotating assembly provides a rigid connection designed to minimize movement and play during operation.

The rotating mechanism incorporates speed control and automatic return to the home position. The resistance adjusts according to the force applied by the user, allowing controlled movement while helping prevent the rotor from spinning freely through the passage.

High-quality bearings and protected internal components are used to support repeated operation and long-term service in demanding environments.

Mechanical Operation

The mechanical design does not require electrical power for normal operation, making it useful for locations where a simple, dependable physical access barrier is preferred.

The turnstile can be configured for:

• Keyed directional override
• One-way or two-way mechanical operation

Indoor or Outdoor

Installation

The turnstile is surface mounted and anchored to a prepared concrete floor or foundation. Installation should include accurate layout, leveling and anchoring of the turnstile to provide a stable operating surface.

For new construction, the concrete foundation and anchor locations can be coordinated with the architectural and structural plans. For existing concrete installations, the process generally includes:

• Positioning and leveling the turnstile
• Marking anchor locations
• Drilling the concrete
• Installing appropriate anchors
• Securing the turnstile
• Verifying rotor alignment and operation

Because this is a mechanical configuration, electrical power and access-control wiring are not required for basic operation.

Allow adequate overhead clearance for service and maintenance of the upper control mechanism.

Companion ADA Gate

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.

This provides an accessible passage adjacent to the controlled turnstile while maintaining a consistent full-height security entrance.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.
