47" Wide Passage Full Height Turnstile

The 47" Wide Passage Full Height Turnstile provides a substantially wider pedestrian opening for facilities where standard full-height turnstile passages are not large enough for equipment, tools, boxes, luggage, carts or other oversized items. The wide passage combines the physical security of a full-height turnstile with increased clearance for moving larger items through a controlled entrance.

The approximately 47" wide passageway is well suited for industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, utilities, construction sites, transportation facilities, stadiums and other locations requiring controlled pedestrian access with additional passage width.

The turnstile is available in manual or electrically controlled configurations, allowing the operating method to be selected according to the security and pedestrian-flow requirements of the facility.

Wide Passage Security

The full-height rotating barrier extends above the user's head and provides a continuous physical barrier across the entrance. Unlike a conventional pedestrian gate, the turnstile permits controlled passage one rotation at a time, helping discourage unauthorized entry and tailgating.

The approximately 47" opening provides additional clearance for personnel carrying tools, equipment, packages and luggage while maintaining the controlled-entry characteristics of a full-height turnstile.

This configuration is not intended to replace an ADA-accessible gate. For accessible passage, a companion ADA gate with a wider clear opening can be provided as part of the overall entrance.

Heavy-Duty Construction

The turnstile features fully welded steel construction with protected bearings and internal components designed for continuous commercial use. The rotating section incorporates a precision splined connection to the upper channel, helping minimize movement and play during operation.

The mechanism uses controlled rotation and automatic self-centering. Speed control responds to the force applied by the user, helping prevent the rotor from spinning rapidly through the passage. After each passage, the rotating section returns smoothly to its home position and locks in preparation for the next user.

An anti-entrapment design helps prevent a person from becoming locked inside the rotating section.

Manual or Electric Operation

The 47" turnstile can be supplied with mechanical or electric locking control.

Manual configurations provide straightforward physical access control without requiring electrical power. Each direction can be adjusted for free passage, controlled passage or no passage, with built-in keyed override controls.

Access Control Ready:
Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage. This allows the electric turnstile to integrate with card readers, RFID readers, biometric readers, keypads, push buttons and other access-control equipment capable of providing the appropriate relay signal.

The electric configuration provides independent entry and exit control. When a valid credential is presented, the turnstile releases for one controlled passage in the authorized direction. Available operating configurations include:

Perimeter and Outdoor Applications

The 47" wide configuration is particularly appropriate for fence-line and perimeter security applications, including outdoor employee entrances, construction sites, industrial properties and secured facility perimeters.

The turnstile can be specified with finishes appropriate for exterior use, including galvanized construction and powder-coated finishes. For demanding outdoor environments, weatherization options and protective accessories can be incorporated into the installation.

Indoor or Outdoor

This full-height turnstile is suitable for indoor or outdoor applications when properly specified for the installation environment.

Powder-coated units can be specified in standard colors or custom colors to coordinate with fencing, gates, buildings and other architectural elements.

Installation

The turnstile is surface mounted and anchored to a prepared concrete foundation. A properly prepared, level mounting surface is important for maintaining rotor alignment and reliable operation.

ADA Gate and Canopy Options

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

These options allow the full-height turnstile to be incorporated into a complete controlled-access entrance while providing an accessible route and additional protection at outdoor installations.
