27" Passage Full Height Turnstile
Product Description
The 27" Passage Full Height Turnstile provides controlled pedestrian access in applications where a narrow, secure passageway is preferred. Its compact footprint and full-height rotor create a physical barrier from floor level to above the user's head, making it an effective solution for controlling pedestrian movement while helping prevent unauthorized access and the passage of bicycles and other oversized items.
The 27" passage configuration is well suited for schools, athletic facilities, recreation areas, industrial facilities, employee entrances, utilities and other controlled-access locations where a narrower pedestrian opening is appropriate. It can operate as a stand-alone mechanical turnstile or be integrated with an electronic access-control system.
The turnstile is available in manual or electric configurations. Electric versions can integrate with card readers, RFID credentials, biometric readers and other access-control systems. Passage can be configured for free movement in both directions, controlled movement in one direction, or electronically controlled passage in both directions. Fail-safe and fail-secure configurations are available for electrically controlled installations.
Full-Height Security Construction
The full-height rotor provides a continuous physical barrier that extends approximately 84" above the finished floor. An automatic indexing and self-centering mechanism returns the rotor to its proper position after each passage, helping maintain consistent operation and controlled access.
The standard 27" configuration uses 1.5" diameter tubing and is available in galvanized steel, powder-coated steel or stainless-steel construction. A heavy-duty tubing configuration is also available when additional structural strength is required.
Manual or Electric Operation
Manual operation provides straightforward physical access control without requiring electrical power. Electric configurations can be connected to virtually any compatible access-control system.
Available operating configurations include:
- Manual free passage in both directions
- Manual free passage in one direction with the opposite direction locked
- Electronic control in one direction with free passage in the other
- Electronic control in one direction with the opposite direction locked
- Electronic control in both directions
- Fail-safe or fail-secure operation
- Key override
A card-reader mounting enclosure can also be specified to provide a clean installation for access-control equipment at the turnstile.
Indoor or Outdoor Installation
The 27" full-height turnstile can be used for indoor or outdoor applications, with the appropriate finish and environmental options selected for the installation.
For exterior applications, galvanized construction or a powder-coated finish over galvanized steel can provide additional protection against environmental exposure. Cold-weather options can include an insulated mainframe and thermostat-controlled heater. Canopies are also available for installations requiring overhead coverage.
Installation
The turnstile is surface mounted and anchored to the finished concrete floor. Installation should be coordinated with the concrete foundation, anchor locations and, for electric units, conduit and access-control wiring.
Architects and contractors should allow for:
- 62" overall installation width
- Approximately 57.4" overall depth
- 27" passage width
- 84" clear passage height
- 91" overall height
- Concrete anchoring
- Electrical conduit for electric configurations
- Access-control wiring
- Adequate overhead service clearance
A minimum of 4" clearance above the top cover is recommended to provide access to the control mechanism and permit removal of the cover during service.
ADA Gate and Canopy Options
All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.
Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.
These options allow the turnstile installation to provide both controlled pedestrian access and an accessible route through the same secured entrance area.

- Bidirectional key override
