Product Description

The 69-Inch Full-Height Clear Bi-Parting Optical Turnstile is a premium pedestrian access-control system designed for entrances requiring a taller physical barrier while maintaining the open appearance of clear panels. The full-height configuration provides greater separation between secured and unsecured areas than standard-height optical turnstiles, making it well suited for corporate facilities, government buildings, universities, commercial properties and other controlled pedestrian entrances.

Two motorized clear barrier panels move apart to create the passageway and then return to the closed position after authorized passage. The system is bi-directional, allowing controlled pedestrian movement in either direction, while optical sensors monitor the lane for unauthorized passage and other security events. The closed-loop drive system provides precise panel positioning and smooth operation.

The 69-inch configuration is available with 28-inch standard passage or approximately 36-inch wide passage, allowing the same turnstile family to accommodate conventional pedestrian lanes as well as wider accessible or equipment-pass lanes. Multiple lanes can be built using end and center cabinets, allowing larger entrances to be configured as a coordinated access-control system.

The full-height version is appropriate where the project requires a stronger visual and physical barrier without using an opaque wall or conventional full-height turnstile. The transparent panel design also preserves sight lines for security personnel and building occupants, making it suitable for prominent lobby and entrance applications.

Access Control and Security

The turnstile integrates with building access-control and visitor-management systems and can accommodate a wide variety of credential readers. Depending on the system, integration can include card, proximity/RFID, barcode and other reader technologies, along with network communication and configurable control inputs and outputs.

Integrated optical sensing helps identify unauthorized passage and tailgating. Audible and visual indicators can communicate access status and alarm conditions, while emergency/life-safety inputs can command the barriers to open for egress. The manufacturer also identifies free movement of the panels during power loss and an optional automatic opening configuration.

Installation, Drilling, Trenching and Baseplates

Installation should be coordinated with the architectural, electrical and access-control plans before the finished floor is completed.

The standard installation anchors the turnstile cabinets directly to a suitable concrete floor. Proper positioning requires the cabinets to be level, aligned and squared before final anchoring. Where drilling into the finished floor is undesirable, an optional floor-saver/baseplate platform can provide an alternate mounting method and routing path for power, communication and access-control wiring.

For new construction, power and low-voltage/data routes should be coordinated before concrete or finished flooring is installed. Where trenching or floor penetration is required, the conduit routes should be established before installation. Existing floors should be checked for reinforcement, utilities, radiant heating and other concealed conditions before drilling.

Multi-Lane Configurations

The system can be installed as a single lane or expanded into multiple lanes using center cabinets. This allows architects to create a combination of standard and wider pedestrian lanes within one entrance while maintaining a consistent architectural appearance.

Construction and Appearance

The slim cabinet design and transparent barrier panels provide an open architectural appearance that works particularly well in modern lobbies and controlled entrances. Cabinet finishes, lid materials, panel illumination and custom etching are available as configuration options.
