Bi-Parting Optical Turnstile - 46" Height
Product Description
The Mid-Height 46" Clear Panel Optical Turnstile is a premium pedestrian access-control system designed to provide controlled entry and exit while maintaining an open, modern architectural appearance. Its clear 46-inch-high bi-parting barriers provide a stronger physical separation than lower optical gates while preserving sight lines through the entrance. The slim end cabinets are approximately 3.8 inches wide, allowing multiple lanes to be installed in a compact floor area.
Two motorized clear panels move away from the user to create the passageway and return to the closed position after authorized passage. The system uses closed-loop position control for precise, quiet panel movement and can accept another valid credential while the lane is still open, allowing the barriers to remain open for the next authorized person and improving throughput at busy entrances.
The turnstile can be configured with a 28-inch standard passage or 36-inch wide passage, making it possible to combine standard and wider lanes within a multi-lane entrance. Center expansion cabinets can be used to create additional lanes, and mixed-width or mixed-height lane configurations are available for projects requiring different access conditions within the same installation.
Illuminated status indicators and audible notifications communicate access conditions to users and staff. The control system can support controlled passage, free passage, no-passage and visitor modes, while emergency/life-safety inputs can open the barriers in the exit direction when required.
46-Inch Clear Barrier Panels
The 46-inch panel configuration is a useful middle-height solution when a project requires more separation than a low optical turnstile but does not require a full-height pedestrian barrier. It provides a visible physical barrier while maintaining transparency and sight lines, making it appropriate for corporate lobbies, government facilities, employee entrances, universities and other controlled pedestrian areas.
The barriers are available for 28-inch or 36-inch passage lanes, with the wider lane useful for accessibility and other applications requiring additional clearance. Multiple lanes can be created by combining end and center cabinets.
Access Control and Security
The turnstile integrates with external access-control systems through its control interface. A valid authorization signal can release a single passage in one or both directions, while configurable inputs and outputs can report or respond to passage and alarm conditions. The system can also support visitor and free-passage operating modes when required by the facility.
Optical sensing monitors the passage area, while user-status and open/closed indicators provide immediate visual feedback. Alarm conditions can be communicated through flashing status lights and audible signals.
Installation, Drilling, Trenching and Baseplate Options
Installation should be coordinated with the architectural, electrical and access-control plans before the floor is completed.
The cabinets must be level and square to one another so that the optical sensors and moving barriers remain properly aligned. The standard installation anchors the cabinets directly to a level concrete floor. The current installation instructions specify drilling 5/8-inch anchor holes approximately 3 inches deep at the marked mounting locations, followed by installation and final torquing of the anchors after the cabinets are leveled and squared.
Optional Baseplate / Floor-Saver Installation
An optional baseplate can be used when drilling into the concrete is undesirable. The baseplate provides a structural mounting surface for the cabinets and includes concealed channels for routing power, crossover communication and access-control wiring. Multiple baseplates can also be bridged together for multi-lane installations.
This can be particularly useful when installing on an existing finished floor or when minimizing concrete drilling is important.
Electrical and Data Conduit Planning
For new construction, electrical and low-voltage requirements should be coordinated before the floor is poured or finished.
Primary Power: 3/4-inch conduit; 1/2-inch conduit when the external DC power option is used.
Access Control / Ethernet: 3/4-inch conduit.
Crossover Communication: 1-inch conduit.
The documentation also requires separate conduits for power and communication wiring and identifies a cabinet conduit-access area of approximately 6.50 × 2.50 inches through which the required conduits must fit.
For a new construction project, the electrical contractor should therefore stub up the required power, access-control/data and inter-cabinet communication conduits at the cabinet locations before the concrete or finished floor is completed. For retrofit installations, drilling and trenching requirements should be established after checking for reinforcement, utilities, radiant heat and other concealed conditions.
Construction and Materials
The cabinet construction uses #304 stainless steel with a #4 satin finish. Optional finishes, illuminated side panels and custom panel etching can be used where the project requires architectural customization.
The clear moving barriers are available in the 46-inch mid-height configuration, and wider or different-height lanes can be combined in multi-lane layouts where supported.
