48" Wide Passage Full Height Turnstile

The 48" Wide Passage Full Height Turnstile is designed for controlled pedestrian access where a standard turnstile opening is not wide enough for equipment, bicycles, carts, packages, tools, or other oversized loads. The extra-wide passage provides substantially greater clearance while maintaining the physical security of a full-height turnstile.

With an approximately 49" passage opening, this configuration is particularly well suited for industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, utilities, transportation facilities, stadiums, public venues, construction sites and other environments where personnel may need to move larger items through a controlled entrance. The full-height rotor extends above the user's head, creating a continuous physical barrier between secured and unsecured areas.

The turnstile can be supplied as a manual or electrically controlled unit. Electric configurations can integrate with virtually any access-control system, including card readers, RFID, biometric readers and other credentialing systems. Entry and exit can be configured independently, including controlled entry in one direction, controlled passage in both directions, free passage in one direction, or locked passage in the opposite direction. Fail-safe and fail-secure operating configurations are available for electric installations.

Heavy-Duty Construction

The wide-passage configuration is constructed with 1.75" diameter tubing and is designed for demanding commercial and industrial environments. The approximately 49" passage provides considerably more usable clearance than narrower full-height turnstiles while retaining the security advantages of a full-height rotor.

The rotor incorporates automatic indexing and self-centering, returning the rotor to its proper position following each passage. This helps maintain consistent operation and positioning at the controlled entrance.

Available construction and finish options include galvanized steel, powder-coated carbon steel and stainless steel. Powder-coated finishes are available in multiple standard colors, with custom colors available for projects requiring coordination with architectural finishes, fencing or site colors.

Manual or Electric Operation

Manual versions are appropriate for applications where the turnstile provides physical pedestrian control without electronic credentialing. Electric versions can be connected to an existing access-control system and can be configured for one-way or two-way controlled operation.

Electric units can also be configured with card-reader mounting provisions, allowing the access-control hardware to be positioned directly at the turnstile entrance.

Indoor or Outdoor Installation

The 48" wide full-height turnstile can be specified for indoor or outdoor applications.

For outdoor installations, the finish and environmental options should be selected based on the site's exposure and climate. Powder-coated units can be supplied over galvanized steel for increased protection in exterior environments. Cold-weather installations can be equipped with an insulated mainframe and thermostat-controlled heater. Canopies are also available for additional protection over the turnstile and passage area.

Installation

The turnstile is surface mounted and anchored to a prepared concrete foundation. Proper installation requires accurate positioning of the turnstile, suitable concrete and anchoring, and coordination of electrical and access-control wiring where an electric configuration is specified.

The 48" configuration is approximately 106" wide × 96.2" deep × 91" high, with approximately 84" of clear passage height. A minimum of approximately 4" of clearance above the top cover should be maintained to allow access for servicing and removal of the cover/control mechanism.

ADA Access and Canopies

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.
