Retracting Glass Optical Speed Gate

The Retracting Glass Optical Speed Gate is a high-speed pedestrian access-control system designed for secure interior entrances where rapid throughput, intelligent detection and a clean architectural appearance are important. Its glass barriers retract completely into the pedestal, creating an open passage when authorized access is granted.

The system is available in **three passage widths—compact, standard and wide—**making it suitable for conventional pedestrian lanes as well as wider accessible entrances. The wide configuration provides a 36-inch passage.

High-Speed Pedestrian Access

The gate is designed for rapid pedestrian processing, with a published operating speed of approximately one person per second. Retracting "angel wing" glass barriers provide a smooth, unobstructed appearance while maintaining controlled access.

Advanced Optical Detection

A high-resolution infrared detection matrix monitors the passage area and can detect tailgating between individuals separated by as little as 5 mm (1/4 inch). The system can also distinguish human body mass from smaller objects to improve detection accuracy and reduce unnecessary alarms.

An automatic local alarm can notify personnel when unauthorized entry is detected. An optional solid locking system is available where additional resistance against unauthorized passage is required.

The retracting glass gate is available in three lane configurations:

• Wide: 36" ADA

All configurations use a 36.5-inch barrier height.

Architectural Construction

The enclosure is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a satin horizontal-grain finish. The retracting barriers are made from 10 mm toughened safety glass.

Two pedestal-end designs are available, allowing the equipment to be coordinated with different architectural layouts:

• Square-end
• Elliptical-end

The pedestal dimensions vary according to the selected compact, standard or wide configuration.

Access Control and Building Integration

The gate is designed to integrate with existing access-control, CCTV and building-management systems. Entry, exit and visitor-management inputs allow the equipment to operate with third-party security systems.

Ethernet connectivity provides remote control and diagnostics, allowing authorized personnel to monitor and manage the system from connected computers or mobile devices when properly configured.

Safety and Emergency Operation

Fire-alarm integration provides an emergency egress input. Safety monitoring helps prevent the barriers from operating against an obstruction, while the barrier breakaway function provides controlled release when the specified force is exceeded.

Installation, Drilling and Trenching

The gate is designed for floor-mounted installation. Before installation, the finished floor should be checked for structural suitability and levelness.

For new construction, electrical power and access-control/data conduit should be coordinated with the architectural and electrical plans and stubbed up at the equipment locations before the finished floor is completed.

For retrofit installations, drilling and any required trenching should be coordinated with existing utilities, reinforcing steel and finished flooring.

Where protection of an existing finished floor is required, a floor-protection/baseplate solution can be specified where compatible with the installation. The exact anchoring arrangement should follow the applicable installation drawing.
