Security Barrier with Skirt – From 10' to 20'

This high-security automatic barrier gate is designed for controlled vehicle entrances where the barrier must also help prevent unauthorized pedestrian access. Unlike a conventional barrier arm that primarily controls vehicles, this system can be equipped with a full boom skirt that closes the open area beneath the barrier arm.

Arms can be cut down and capped either at the factory before shipping or at the field.

Access Control Ready

Access Control Ready: Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to open the barrier gate.

The automatic barrier can integrate with card readers, RFID readers, keypads, intercoms, long-range vehicle readers, license-plate recognition systems, push-button controls, remote controls and other access-control or parking-management equipment capable of providing the appropriate relay signal.

The control system provides individually configurable inputs and outputs and includes an integrated two-channel detector for induction loops. Safety devices such as photoelectric sensors or laser scanners can also be incorporated into the entrance-control system.

Boom Skirt

The standard anti-crawl boom skirt extends below the barrier arm to help prevent pedestrians from passing or crawling underneath the closed barrier. The skirt folds as the barrier opens, allowing the vehicle lane to remain clear when the arm is raised.

For entrances requiring additional pedestrian deterrence, an anti-climb configuration can provide protection both below and above the barrier arm, with climb-over protection available up to approximately 70 inches high.

Barrier Arm and Support Post

The skirted configuration uses a straight boom arm designed to accommodate the boom skirt. For Security Entrances configurations, a fixed support post is specified at the end of the barrier arm.

With the standard skirt and support post, the maximum lane width is approximately 5.5 m (18 ft). The 70" anti-climb configuration has a shorter maximum lane width—approximately 4.5 m (14.8 ft) with a support post.

Automatic Operation

The barrier is designed for 100% continuous-duty operation and provides opening and closing times starting at approximately 4 seconds, depending on the barrier configuration. The high cabinet houses the drive system, controls and associated electronics while providing service access.

The automatic drive system is designed for 100% duty-cycle operation, making the barrier suitable for entrances with frequent vehicle traffic. Opening and closing time is approximately 4 seconds minimum, depending on configuration.

The high cabinet provides a substantial enclosure for the drive, controls and associated electronics while allowing service access from the barrier housing.

Indoor / Outdoor

The barrier is suitable for indoor or outdoor vehicle-control applications. The cabinet is rated IP54, and the system is designed to operate in temperatures from approximately -22°F to 131°F (-30°C to +55°C).

Installation

The barrier cabinet and support post are surface mounted to properly designed concrete foundations. Electrical power, access-control wiring, safety-device wiring and vehicle-loop conduit should be coordinated before concrete placement.

Because the boom skirt adds weight and loading to the barrier arm, the support-post location and concrete foundation should be established as part of the entrance layout, rather than treated as an accessory added after installation.
