Aluminum Turnstile with Metal Detection

This Aluminum Full Height Turnstile with Metal Detection combines controlled pedestrian access with an integrated walk-through metal detection portal. Designed for attended security entrances, the system provides physical access control and personnel screening within a single entrance configuration.

The aluminum and polycarbonate construction provides a modern, open architectural appearance while the full-height rotating barrier establishes a controlled security boundary. This configuration is well suited for government facilities, correctional facilities, courthouses, industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, secured campuses, stadiums and other locations requiring personnel screening at the point of entry.

Integrated Metal Detection

The metal detection system is incorporated into the entrance rather than requiring a separate walk-through screening station. When metallic material triggers an alarm, the turnstile can remain locked until the condition has been addressed by security personnel.

The detection system provides localized information to help security personnel identify the location and characteristics of detected metal while maintaining an orderly pedestrian screening process.

Full Height Architectural Construction

The turnstile uses anodized aluminum framing with transparent, scratch-resistant polycarbonate components, providing a lighter architectural appearance than conventional steel full-height turnstiles.

The three-vane rotating assembly provides controlled one-person-at-a-time passage while maintaining clear sight lines through the entrance. The standard pedestrian clearance is approximately 27.75"; the metal-detection configuration uses a narrower 24" passageway designed for the screening application.

Controlled One-Person Passage

The turnstile uses an automatic indexing, self-centering mechanism with adjustable hydraulic shock suppression. Hardened locking components and permanently lubricated bearings are designed for repeated operation in demanding commercial environments.

Access Control Ready

Compatible with access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage. When credential verification is required in addition to metal screening, the electronic turnstile can integrate with card readers, RFID readers, biometric readers and other access-control equipment capable of providing the appropriate relay signal.

For installations where metal detection is the primary permission to enter, the detection system can control whether the turnstile releases without requiring a separate access credential. When an alarm condition occurs, the turnstile can remain locked until the condition has been addressed by security personnel.

A card-reader mounting enclosure, push-button controls and remote controls are available when required by the entrance configuration.

Indoor or Outdoor

The aluminum and polycarbonate turnstile platform is designed for interior or exterior applications. For colder environments, an optional cold-weather package with a thermostat-controlled heater and insulated mainframe is available.

For exterior installations, the entrance should be protected from site conditions as appropriate and installed according to the environmental requirements of the metal-detection equipment.

Finish and Color Options

Standard architectural finishes include:

The aluminum construction provides an architectural appearance that coordinates well with storefront systems, doors, glazing and other modern building finishes.

Installation

The system is surface mounted and requires a level, properly prepared mounting surface. Because the entrance combines a full-height turnstile with metal-detection equipment, installation planning should coordinate both the physical mounting requirements and electrical/control connections.

Coordinate the finished floor elevation, turnstile footprint, anchor locations, concrete or structural mounting surface, electrical power, metal-detector wiring, access-control wiring when applicable, reader location, security control location and required service clearance.

A minimum of 4" clearance above the cover should be maintained for cover removal and servicing.

ADA Access

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.

The 24" metal-detection passage should not be represented as an ADA-accessible route. Where accessibility is required, the companion gate provides the wider accessible passage while allowing the entrance to maintain controlled security.

Canopy Options

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

For outdoor installations, a canopy can also provide additional protection over the turnstile and screening area.
