Aluminum and Polycarbonate Turnstile

The Aluminum & Polycarbonate Full Height Turnstile combines the security and controlled pedestrian access of a full-height turnstile with a more open, architectural appearance. Its three-vane revolving-door design provides a less imposing alternative to conventional full-height security turnstiles while maintaining controlled passage between secured and unsecured areas.

The clear polycarbonate panels provide improved visibility through the entrance, making this configuration particularly well suited for corporate offices, production facilities, visitor entrances, commercial buildings and other locations where security must be integrated into an architectural environment.

Rather than relying solely on a conventional physical barrier to restrict movement in the wrong direction, the system uses ultrasonic sensing to monitor traffic flow. This allows the entrance to enforce directional movement while also helping reduce wind and noise transfer between connected areas.

Architectural Full Height Design

The combination of aluminum framing and clear polycarbonate creates a contemporary entrance with significantly less visual obstruction than traditional solid full-height turnstiles. The revolving-door configuration maintains a full-height barrier while allowing personnel and security staff to maintain better sight lines through the entrance.

The approximately 30" clear pedestrian opening accommodates normal pedestrian traffic while the 84" interior height provides full-height security from floor level through the upper portion of the portal.

The unit has an overall diameter of approximately 72.3", allowing it to function as a substantial architectural entrance feature while maintaining a relatively clean, circular footprint.

Controlled Pedestrian Access

The turnstile can be configured for manual or electronic operation depending on the security and pedestrian-flow requirements of the facility. Entry and exit directions can be configured independently to provide the required combination of controlled, free or locked passage.

Available operating configurations include:

• Manual free passage in both directions
• Manual free passage in one direction with the opposite direction locked
• Electronic control in one direction with free passage in the other
• Electronic control in one direction with the opposite direction locked

• Fail-safe operation

The electronic control system can be configured with different fail-safe and fail-secure settings for each direction, providing flexibility for security, life-safety and facility-access requirements.

Access Control Ready

Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.

The electronic configuration can integrate with card readers, RFID readers, biometric readers, keypads, push buttons and other access-control equipment capable of providing the appropriate relay signal. A card-reader mounting enclosure is available for incorporating credential readers directly into the entrance.

Optional optical anti-piggybacking can provide an additional level of security by detecting unauthorized users attempting to follow an authorized user through the entrance.

Indoor or Outdoor

This architectural full-height turnstile is primarily suited to interior or protected entrance environments where its aluminum and polycarbonate construction can be incorporated into the building design.

For applications requiring additional environmental protection, available options include a cold-weather package with a thermostat-controlled heater and insulated mainframe.

Finish and Color Options

The aluminum structure is available in architectural finishes including:

• Clear anodized aluminum
• Dark bronze

These finish options allow the turnstile to coordinate with aluminum storefronts, doors, curtain walls and other architectural elements.

Installation

The turnstile is installed as a surface-mounted architectural entrance and should be positioned on a level, properly prepared finished floor capable of supporting the unit and maintaining alignment of the rotating assembly.

For new construction, the turnstile footprint, finished floor elevation and access-control requirements should be coordinated during the architectural and electrical design stages.

ADA Gate and Canopy Options

All turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36” or 48” free passageway.

Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.

The approximately 30" turnstile passage is not intended to serve as the accessible route. Where accessibility is required, a companion ADA gate can provide a 36" or 48" free passageway alongside the turnstile.
