This 72-inch tapered stainless-steel access-control pedestal provides an architectural mounting solution for card readers, ADA actuators, door stations, intercoms, keypads, cameras, entry and exit buttons, biometric readers and other access-control equipment. Its clean tapered profile and brushed stainless-steel finish make it well suited to prominent building entrances, glass lobbies, commercial properties and other locations where the access-control equipment needs to complement the surrounding architecture.

The pedestal is designed around a 6-inch-wide equipment face and a single-gang device opening as standard. Additional device cutouts can be specified when required for a particular equipment package. The mounting openings are configured to allow the selected equipment to be installed directly into the pedestal.

Architectural Stainless-Steel Construction

The one-piece pedestal is fabricated from stainless steel with a brushed stainless finish. The tapered architectural form, rounded corners and clean surface are intended for high-visibility installations where appearance is as important as equipment support.

The heavy-duty construction includes a 0.25-inch-thick base plate. The manufacturer states that the pedestal is engineered to withstand sustained Category 5 hurricane-force winds of up to 157 mph, providing substantial structural performance for exterior installations.

The brushed stainless finish is also well suited to premium commercial environments and can be specified with alternate finishes or powder-coat colors when the project requires a different architectural appearance.

The universal design allows the pedestal to support equipment from different manufacturers. Typical applications include:

The standard configuration includes a single-gang cutout with two mounting holes. Additional cutouts are available for installations requiring multiple devices or a different equipment arrangement.

Concealed Fastening and Service Access

The pedestal is designed so that mounting hardware is not visible from the finished exterior. An access panel on the rear provides access to the interior of the pedestal, allowing the equipment and mounting hardware to be installed from inside the structure.

This approach creates a clean architectural appearance while providing installers with access to the internal mounting area.

Baseplate and Installation

The pedestal is designed for surface mounting to a concrete foundation or other suitable structural surface. The substantial base plate provides the interface between the pedestal and the supporting foundation.

Two styles of mounting-bolt kits are available separately. For an existing concrete surface, the installation location can be laid out, drilled and anchored using an appropriate anchoring system based on the substrate and project requirements.

For new construction, the concrete foundation, reinforcement, conduit and underground wiring should be coordinated before the concrete is installed. The foundation and anchoring system should be designed in accordance with project-specific structural requirements.

Conduit and Trenching

Access-control wiring can be routed through the pedestal from the foundation to the equipment mounting area. Where wiring must be brought to the pedestal from an underground source, trenching and conduit pathways should be coordinated with the pedestal location before site work begins.

Conduit size, trench depth and electrical requirements should be established by the project's electrical and access-control drawings. These requirements will vary according to the equipment being installed and local project conditions.

Customization

The pedestal can be customized for project-specific requirements, including device cutouts, overall height, finish and material. The manufacturer also offers alternate powder-coat colors and custom RAL colors, as well as the option to specify 316 stainless steel instead of the standard stainless construction.

Custom cutouts are particularly useful when the access-control equipment does not use a standard single-gang mounting configuration.
