This 58-inch steel gooseneck access-control pedestal provides a durable mounting platform for card readers, intercoms, keypads, entry and exit buttons, biometric readers, cameras and other access-control equipment at vehicle gates, parking entrances and perimeter access points.

The 58-inch mounting height is designed for convenient access from passenger vehicles, SUVs and smaller commercial vehicles. Its gooseneck configuration positions equipment toward the vehicle lane while keeping the supporting post outside the normal vehicle path.

Single-Height Configuration

The pedestal provides one equipment mounting position at approximately 58 inches high, making it a practical choice where a single operating height is appropriate for the vehicles using the entrance.

The 12-inch reach brings the mounted equipment toward the driver, making card readers, intercoms, keypads and other devices easier to operate without requiring the vehicle to pull immediately alongside the pedestal.

Universal Equipment Mounting

The pedestal incorporates a universal face plate mounting pattern, allowing it to accommodate access-control equipment from different manufacturers. Typical equipment includes:

Steel Construction and Finish

The pedestal is fabricated from carbon steel tubing with a 0.120-inch wall thickness. The gooseneck uses a tight, uniform 6-inch bend radius, providing a compact transition from the vertical post to the equipment mounting position.

The exterior receives a polyester powder-coat finish with UV protection for outdoor exposure. The standard finish is black wrinkle. The manufacturer states that the pedestal is engineered to withstand sustained Category 5 hurricane-force winds.

Baseplate and Installation

This is a pad-mounted/floor-mounted pedestal, rather than an in-ground or wet-cement installation. The heavy-duty base plate can be positioned on or off a concrete curb or traffic island, providing flexibility for parking-lot and gate installations. A sliding cover plate conceals the mounting bolts after installation.

Two styles of mounting-bolt kits are available separately. On an existing concrete surface, installation can be completed by drilling and anchoring the base using the appropriate hardware for the concrete and site conditions.

For new construction, the concrete pad or traffic island, reinforcement, conduit and underground wiring should be coordinated before concrete work begins.

Trenching and Conduit

Where power, communications or access-control wiring must be brought to the pedestal, trenching and conduit pathways should be coordinated with the pedestal location before site work begins.

The pedestal provides a protected pathway for wiring from the base to the mounted equipment. Trench depth, conduit size and electrical requirements should be established by the project's electrical and access-control plans rather than treated as universal pedestal requirements.

Replacement and Service

The pad-mounted design allows the pedestal to be unbolted from the concrete, rather than requiring removal of a post embedded in cured concrete. The sliding base cover conceals the mounting hardware after installation while allowing access when servicing or replacing the pedestal.

Customization

Custom options include height, reach, face plates, base plates and powder-coat colors. Alternate standard colors and custom RAL colors are available for projects requiring a different finish. Custom configurations may affect cost and lead time.
