Tandem Galvanized Steel – Electric 2 Way
Product Description
This electric tandem full height turnstile combines two independently controlled pedestrian passageways within a single heavy-duty structure. Built with hot-dip galvanized steel, it is designed for demanding indoor and outdoor applications where durability, perimeter security and electronic access control are required.
The tandem configuration provides the functionality of two full height turnstiles in one space-saving frame, using approximately 30% less installation space than two individual turnstiles. This makes it particularly well suited for industrial facilities, distribution centers, secured campuses, construction sites, transportation facilities, stadiums and perimeter fence lines where higher pedestrian capacity is required.
Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Construction
Exterior steel components are hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123/A153 standards, providing corrosion protection for outdoor and industrial environments. The galvanized configuration also incorporates a stainless-steel top-channel cover.
The tandem turnstile uses fully welded steel construction with no exposed bolts or fasteners. Fully welded rotors and yokes provide a rigid, tamper-resistant assembly, while sealed bearings and a precision splined rotation system are designed for long-term operation in demanding environments.
Electric Two-Way Operation
This model provides electric lock control in both directions for both pedestrian lanes. Each direction can be independently controlled, allowing the tandem entrance to be configured for the required combination of controlled entry and exit.
When authorization is received, the appropriate direction is released for passage. After rotation, the turnstile automatically returns to its home position. An integrated speed-control system regulates rotation according to the force applied by the pedestrian, helping provide smooth, controlled passage and reducing hard stops and excessive wear.
Access Control Ready
Access Control Ready: Compatible with any and all access control systems where a low-voltage or dry-contact signal is presented by the control panel to release the turnstile for passage.
The electric controls can integrate with card readers, proximity credentials, biometric readers and other access-control equipment. The installation documentation specifically confirms that electric models are activated by a momentary dry-contact signal, with separate controls for each direction of rotation.
Each direction can also be configured independently for fail-safe or fail-secure operation. Built-in key overrides allow authorized personnel to manually change the operating condition of each direction when required.
Independent Dual-Lane Control
The two turnstiles are incorporated into a common tandem frame while retaining separate electric controls. This allows the lanes and directions to be configured according to the facility's pedestrian traffic requirements.
For example, both lanes can provide controlled entry and exit, or individual directions can be configured differently for employee entry, controlled exit or free passage. Built-in override controls support free, controlled and locked passage modes.
Indoor or Outdoor
The tandem galvanized turnstile is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. Its hot-dip galvanized construction makes this configuration particularly appropriate for exterior perimeter security, industrial facilities and other demanding environments.
Weatherization options are available for harsher environmental conditions.
Installation
The tandem turnstile is permanently installed on a level structural mounting surface, typically a prepared concrete pad. The overall assembly is approximately 94.5" wide × 54.1" deep × 91.5" high, so the complete footprint, pedestrian approach areas, adjacent fencing and service clearances should be coordinated during project planning.
Because this is the electric model, installation also requires coordination of electrical power and low-voltage access-control wiring. For new construction, conduit can be embedded below the finished surface. Existing installations may require drilling, trenching or core drilling for anchors and concealed wiring.
Final anchor locations, conduit routing and electrical stub-ups should be coordinated with approved project drawings before drilling or trenching.
ADA Companion Gate
All tandem turnstiles can be ordered with a companion ADA gate with a 36" or 48" free passageway.
The companion gate can be installed adjacent to the tandem turnstile to provide a controlled wider passage for accessibility, deliveries and other applications requiring additional clearance.
Canopy Options
Canopies can provide an anti-climb-over feature and can be ordered as a half canopy for entry side only.
Available Options
Available options include credential-reader mounting, key overrides, passage indicators, passage counters, weatherization equipment, protective guards, baseplates and canopy configurations. The product family also supports a variety of finishes and integration accessories.
