Bi Directional Access Gate - Extra Wide
Product Description
The Bi Directional Access Gate - Extra Wide provides a controlled, oversized passage alongside standard security turnstiles. It accommodates wheelchairs, carts, luggage, deliveries, and equipment while maintaining the appearance of a coordinated entrance system. Typical applications include corporate offices, high-rise buildings, financial institutions, government facilities, reception areas, and elevator lobbies.
Wide Passage for Accessible and Oversized Traffic
Available clear openings of 39, 47, and 55 inches allow the lane to be tailored to accessibility and material-handling requirements.
Bi-Directional Motorized Glass Barriers
Two motorized swinging glass barriers control travel in either direction, allowing the lane to serve as an entry or exit point based on its access-control programming. Under specified conditions, the gate supports a nominal passage rate of about one person per second.
Optical Security Detection
A high-resolution infrared sensor array monitors the passageway for tailgating and unauthorized use. It can distinguish human body mass from smaller objects and detect closely spaced individuals at approximately 0.39 inches (10 mm) apart. A local alarm can respond to unauthorized passage, while safety sensors slow barrier closure when an obstruction is present.
Glass Panel Heights
Multiple barrier heights allow the gate to be specified according to the required security level and architectural appearance:
- 38"
- 47"
- 59"
- 67"
- 71"
Taller glass configurations provide increased physical separation while retaining visibility through the entrance. The 70.9" configuration uses 12 mm toughened/laminated glass rather than the standard 10 mm glass.
Tall Panels: Extra-Wide Access Gate - Tall Panels
Access Control Integration
The gate can integrate with access-control, CCTV, building-management, and visitor-management systems. A visitor-management input can temporarily enable unrestricted passage for authorized visitors before the lane automatically returns to its secured mode. Ethernet connectivity supports remote control and diagnostics when used with the appropriate communications system.
Emergency and Fail-Safe Operation
A fire-alarm input supports emergency egress. The barriers include a controlled breakaway function with an approximate 60 N friction breakaway force; an optional locking-brake configuration is rated at approximately 300 N.
Construction and Installation
Pedestals are constructed from stainless steel with a satin horizontal-grain finish. The gate can be paired with other optical turnstiles to create a unified entrance design while providing a dedicated wide lane.
Install the floor-mounted gate on a level, properly prepared structural floor. For new construction, coordinate power, access-control, and data conduits before the finished floor is completed. For retrofit projects, plan drilling and trenching around reinforcing steel, existing services, and other concealed utilities. A floor-protector/baseplate accessory is available where an alternate mounting method or finished-floor protection is needed; confirm final anchoring and conduit locations using the applicable installation drawings.
