Optical Speed Gate Pro - Clear Flap Panels
Product Description
The Optical Flap Speed Gate is a slim, transparent pedestrian access-control system designed for secure interior entrances where space, appearance and controlled pedestrian flow are important. Motorized glass flap barriers provide a clean architectural appearance while controlling passage through one or both directions.
The compact design is well suited for corporate offices, government facilities, financial institutions, retail environments, telecommunications facilities, technology centers, educational facilities and other controlled-access buildings.
Motorized Glass Flap Barriers
The system uses motorized glass flap leaves that open automatically when an authorized access signal is received. Operation can be configured for Normally Closed or Normally Open applications.
In Normally Closed operation, the barriers remain closed until an authorized signal is received from the access-control system or remote control. In Normally Open operation, the walkway remains open during normal conditions and closes when an unauthorized entry or tailgating attempt is detected.
Optical Security Detection
Integrated optical sensing monitors movement through the passage lane and provides detection of:
- Tailgating
- Piggybacking
- Unauthorized intrusion
- Wrong-way passage
- Lane timeout
- Fraudulent passage attempts
Optional climb-on and climb-over detection can provide an additional level of security by detecting attempts to climb onto or over the cabinet.
Glass Panel Heights
Multiple glass flap heights are available to accommodate different architectural and security requirements:
- 34.6"
- 47.2"
- 59.1"
- 70.9"
The available heights can be specified across the cabinet configurations. Taller glass barriers provide greater physical separation while maintaining visibility through the entrance.

Standard and Wide Passage
Two primary clear passage widths are available:
Standard: 23.6" / 600 mm
Wide: 35.4" / 900 mm
The wide configuration provides additional clearance for wheelchair access and easier pedestrian movement. A combination configuration can also provide a narrow passage on one side and a wide passage on the other.
Multi-Lane Configurations
Individual lanes are created using a left and right cabinet. Additional lanes can be formed using center or combination cabinets.
This allows multiple controlled pedestrian lanes to be arranged together while maintaining a consistent architectural appearance. Wide and combination configurations can be incorporated into the overall lane arrangement when accessible passage is required.
User Guidance and Lane Indicators
Integrated LED pictograms provide clear visual direction to pedestrians. Green arrows indicate authorized passage or designated free passage, while red indicators identify a closed or unauthorized lane.
Flashing indicators can communicate emergency, alarm or technical conditions. Optional dynamic LED lighting can provide additional directional guidance through the lane.
Safety and Emergency Features
The system incorporates force sensing, accurate presence sensing and infrared emitter/receiver technology. Optional lower safety sensors are available.
Additional safety functions include a voltage-free fire-alarm input, manual push opening during power loss and anti-panic push opening during operation.
A wide passage configuration can accommodate wheelchair users, while the control system can support accompanied wheelchair or child passage management.
Construction and Finishes
The frame and rotor column are constructed from 304-grade stainless steel, with a 10 mm glass inlay. The standard lid uses tempered glass with a black silk-screen finish.
End-leg configurations are available in either square tempered-glass construction or rounded stainless-steel construction. Optional integrated LEDs can illuminate the cabinet glass and surrounding area.
Alternative finishes and materials are available for projects requiring coordination with the surrounding architectural environment.
Access Control Integration
The optical speed gate can be integrated with an existing electronic access-control system. Card-reader integration and remote-control options are available.
The control system provides 27 digital interface I/O, along with RS232 and RS485 communication interfaces for system integration.
Installation, Drilling and Trenching
Installation should be coordinated with the architectural, electrical and low-voltage plans before the finished floor is completed.
The installation location must provide a flat, level finished floor within ±5 mm. The structural integrity and strength of the installation location must be verified before anchoring the equipment.
The required installation foundation is configuration-dependent. The documented minimum requirements include:
- Minimum concrete strength: 30 N/mm²
- Minimum bolting depth: 70 mm
- Minimum foundation depth: 150 mm
- Foundation width: 400 mm
- Foundation length: 1,300, 1,500 or 2,000 mm depending on cabinet length
These dimensions should be coordinated with the selected cabinet configuration and installation drawings.
Power and Data Conduit
Electrical and low-voltage conduit should be planned before installation.
The documented installation requirement calls for conduit to run at least 140 mm below the finished floor level and rise at least 50 mm from the foundation.
For new construction, Security Entrances should recommend that power and access-control/data conduits be stubbed up at the planned cabinet locations before the finished floor is installed.
For retrofit projects, drilling and trenching should be coordinated with existing utilities, reinforcement and finished flooring before work begins.
Baseplate and Floor Mounting
The installation should be designed around the actual cabinet configuration and approved installation details. Where a project requires a baseplate or alternate floor-mounting solution, the appropriate mounting arrangement should be specified during the planning stage.
