Product Description
The High-Security Swing Glass Speed Gate is an automatic pedestrian access-control system designed for commercial, corporate, institutional and high-traffic entrances where controlled pedestrian flow, advanced detection and architectural appearance are important.
The High-Security Speed Gate combines motorized swinging glass barriers with multiple infrared sensing zones to monitor pedestrian movement through the lane. Configurations are available with one or two swinging wings, standard and wide passages, and different cabinet layouts to accommodate the requirements of individual entrance designs.
Architectural Design
The High-Security Swing Gate uses a narrow stainless-steel cabinet with a black glass top and tempered-glass barriers. The front cabinet can be specified with either a rounded or square profile, allowing the equipment to coordinate with different architectural styles.
Alternative surface and top finishes are available for projects requiring a customized appearance. Multiple gates can also be arranged in straight, staggered or curved layouts to follow the architecture of a lobby or entrance.
Swinging Glass Barriers
Motorized glass wings provide physical separation between secured and unsecured areas while maintaining visibility through the entrance.
The standard barrier panels are 10 mm tempered glass, with 6 mm tempered glass side infill panels used as part of the cabinet construction. Heavy-duty barrier options are available for applications requiring additional robustness.
Standard, Wide and Extra-Wide Passages
The High-Security Swing Glass Speed Gate can be configured for standard pedestrian traffic or wider applications.
The standard two-wing configuration provides a passage of approximately 25.59 inches, with a maximum standard opening of approximately 36.22 inches.
Optional wide-lane configurations extend the passage from approximately 36.26 to 47.24 inches, while extra-wide configurations can provide approximately 47.28 to 55.12 inches of passage. These wider configurations are useful for wheelchair access, carts, luggage, equipment and other applications requiring additional clearance.
Advanced Infrared Detection
The Speed Gate uses multiple pairs of infrared sensors to monitor the passage area.
The higher-security configuration incorporates 36 pairs of IR sensors, while the compact configuration incorporates 24 pairs. Adjustable security levels allow the detection system to be configured according to the requirements of the facility.
Tailgating and crossover detection help identify attempts to enter a secured area without authorization.
Bi-Directional Access
The High-Security Speed Gate can be configured for one-way or two-way controlled passage. This allows the same lane to manage both entry and exit when integrated with an appropriate access-control system.
The operating direction and access permissions can be coordinated with card readers, RFID equipment and other compatible access-control technologies.
Access Control Integration
The gate is designed to integrate with third-party access-control systems. An optional flush-mounted RFID reader bracket provides a clean reader installation within the cabinet.
Additional integration options include barcode scanners, card collectors and elevator-access equipment, making the system suitable for applications where pedestrian access is coordinated with other building systems.
Lighting and User Guidance
A variety of lighting configurations can be incorporated into the gate, including:
- Access lights
- Lane lights
- Edge lights
- Wing lights
- Passage lights
These lighting options can provide intuitive direction to users and can be coordinated with the architectural lighting design of the entrance.
Emergency Operation
During an emergency condition, the barriers are configured to open automatically in the exit direction.
An optional push-through function provides an additional emergency operating method. A SuperCap emergency power backup is also available for applications where continued operation during a power interruption is required.
Motor and Long-Term Reliability
The gate uses a direct-drive motor with an external tooth brake. The published reliability rating is approximately 30 million mean cycles between failures (MCBF), making the system appropriate for demanding high-traffic environments.
Pedestals, Terminals and Optional Equipment
The High-Security Speed Gate can be equipped with integrated or flush-mounted access-control hardware. Available accessories include RFID reader brackets, card collectors, barcode scanners and elevator-related equipment.
Remote operating and monitoring options include touchscreen controls, a remote-control interface and software-based monitoring. These options can be useful for reception areas, security desks and multi-lane installations.
Multi-Lane and Custom Layouts
Multiple lanes can be installed together to create a coordinated entrance-control system. The cabinets can be arranged in straight, staggered/diagonal or arc layouts, allowing the equipment to follow the geometry of the architectural entrance.
Cabinet lengths can also be selected according to the required passage configuration.
Installation, Drilling, Trenching and Baseplates
Installation should be coordinated with the architectural, electrical and access-control drawings before construction begins.
For new construction, electrical power, access-control wiring and data conduits should be routed to the equipment locations and stubbed up before the finished floor is completed. This is especially important for multi-lane installations and systems incorporating RFID readers, barcode scanners, card collectors or elevator-access equipment.
For retrofit installations, the finished floor should be evaluated before drilling. Any required drilling or trenching should be coordinated with existing electrical services, plumbing, reinforcing steel and other concealed utilities.
Where required, baseplates or floor-protection mounting solutions can be considered for the installation, subject to the selected configuration and applicable installation drawings.
The final anchoring method, conduit locations and floor requirements should be confirmed from the installation drawings for the selected configuration.
