Customizable Barrier Optical Turnstile
Product Description
The Customizable Barrier Optical Turnstile combines optical pedestrian detection with motorized swinging barriers to provide controlled access in interior entrances where security, appearance and efficient use of floor space are important. Its compact design is well suited for corporate offices, government facilities, financial institutions, universities, healthcare facilities and other controlled-access environments.
The system can be configured as a single lane, an ADA-accessible lane or as part of a multi-lane entrance array. Passage widths can be selected according to the application, with standard lanes accommodating approximately 18–22 inches and ADA lanes approximately 36–42 inches.
Glass or Polycarbonate Barriers
The physical barriers are available in tempered glass or polycarbonate, with two barrier-height options of approximately 36 inches or 46 inches. Panels can also be customized with etched logos or artwork, allowing the turnstile to coordinate with the architectural design of the facility.

Custom Cabinet Finishes
The cabinet can be specified in 304 stainless steel with a No. 4 satin finish or powder-coated carbon steel. Solid-surface or wood-laminate top options provide additional flexibility for matching the surrounding interior finishes.
This makes the system particularly useful for projects where the security equipment needs to function as part of the architectural design rather than appear as a standard piece of security hardware.
Optical Security Detection
Optical sensors monitor the passage area as the barriers operate. The system can identify unauthorized passage attempts such as tailgating and wrong-way entry, while lower optical sensors help prevent unauthorized movement underneath the barriers.
A visible multi-color indicator communicates lane status to users, while an audible alarm and solid-state output can be integrated with other security equipment.
Entry and Exit Control
The logic controller can be configured for controlled passage in one or both directions. The opposite direction can be configured for controlled passage, free passage or no passage depending on the access-control requirements.
Card-in/card-out operation and free-out operation using sensors are supported configurations.
Access Control Integration
The turnstile is designed to integrate with a wide range of access-control systems. Reader technologies such as proximity/card readers, biometric equipment and other credentialing systems can be incorporated according to the selected configuration.
This flexibility allows the turnstile to function as part of a larger building security system rather than as a standalone device.
Fire Alarm and Emergency Egress
A dedicated fire-alarm input allows the barriers to respond to a building emergency condition. During a fire alarm, the panels can open outward to provide free egress through the lane.
Break-away operation can also be enabled through the system settings, with an optional key reset or timed reset.
Installation, Drilling and Trenching
The turnstile is intended for floor-mounted interior installation. Before installation, the equipment layout should be coordinated with architectural, electrical and access-control drawings.
For new construction, power, access-control and data conduits should be planned and stubbed up at the turnstile locations before the finished floor is installed.
For retrofit projects, drilling and any required trenching should be coordinated with existing electrical services, reinforcing steel and other concealed utilities before anchoring the equipment.
Where required, baseplates or floor-protection solutions can be considered for the installation, subject to the selected configuration and applicable installation drawings.
The equipment includes a visible target system for dual-axis sensor alignment, which helps simplify field installation and sensor setup.
